Music Therapy Works is a West Midlands registered charity working mainly in the Midlands.
Music Therapy is....
- A powerful intervention for change, providing engagement, evaluation and results for all
- A state-registered profession allied to medicine, governed by the Health & Care Professions Council
- Only delivered by Music Therapists trained to Masters level in the application of music as a therapeutic, and a psychotherapeutic tool
Music Therapy Works is driven by its core vision of delivering a comprehensive and cohesive music therapy service of excellence across the region. Established in 2000 as a branch of the MusicSpace Trust, Music Therapy Works became an independent charity and limited company in 2008. Birmingham and Worcester authorities transferred all responsibility for music therapy to the charity in 2000 and a thriving working partnership has been maintained and developed since.
In order to offer support to people of all ages and circumstances, Music Therapy Works has built on this success to forge relationships with a variety of providers including social services, children’s services, private and NHS healthcare provisions and systems supporting emerging communities and young offenders. In this way 1000s of young people and increasing numbers of adults have benefited from the service over the last 21 years.
