NEUROLOGIC MUSIC THERAPY

Several Music Therapy Works' therapists have further training as Neurologic Music Therapists.

NMT is a research-based system of 20 standardised clinical techniques for use in sensorimotor training, speech and language training and cognitive training.

Populations served by Neurologic Music Therapists include those having experienced:

Stroke
Acquired brain injury
Parkinson’s Disease
Cerebral palsy
Alzheimer’s disease,
Neurological diseases affecting cognition, movement, and communication

Specialist NMT Techniques include:

Melodic Intonation Therapy
Patterned Sensory Enhancement
Musical Speech Stimulation
Oral and Motor Respiratory Exercises
Rhythmic Auditory Stimulation
Associative Mood and Memory Training
Musical Sensory Orientation Training
Musical Neglect Training

NMT is practised using a Transformational Design Model which ensures the application of the most appropriate clinical technique and quantifiable clinical results.
